Plano, Texas to Host the Inaugural Black Franchise Symposium and Trade Show in September 2023

DALLAS, TX, – A groundbreaking event is set to make its mark in the franchise industry. Introducing “The Franchise Game,” the first and only African-American Franchise Symposium and Trade Show in the United States. Taking place in Plano, Texas, on Friday, September 15, 2023, this symposium is orchestrated by industry trailblazers “The Franchise Player” Tarji Carter and Marketing Maven Dessie Brown, Jr. The event will unfold at the Yum! Restaurants International Corporate Campus from 8am to 5pm CST, offering a platform for experts and leaders to engage in insightful discussions about the dynamics of franchising. The theme for this inaugural gathering is aptly named: “Doing The Work!”

The day’s proceedings will commence with an impactful message from James Fripp, Chief Equity, Inclusion & Belonging Officer at Yum! Brands, followed by an empowering keynote address by Nicholas Perkins, CEO of Fuddruckers and the first African American to own a National Hamburger Franchise System. The lineup is set to be energized with engaging panel discussions, featuring franchise luminaries such as Mike Quinn, a Franchisee at Pizza Hut; Tim Williams, Director of Operations at Williams Chicken; Damon Dunn, a Franchisee at Dunkin’ Brands and Retired NFL Player; Delmas Arthur, Operations Manager with a diverse background including Dunkin’ Brands, Starbucks, 5 Guys, McDonald’s, and Hardee’s; and of course, “The Franchise Player” Tarji Carter.

Attendees can anticipate sessions like “A Day in the Life of a Franchisee,” offering an insider’s view from industry-leading multi-unit franchisees; “Talk to My Attorney!” which delves into legal rights and responsibilities guided by franchise attorneys; “Bag Secured,” dedicated to addressing capital acquisition for businesses; “Operational Excellence,” exploring the transition from Owner-Operator to enterprise owner; and “How to Get Started and Approved,” the definitive guide to embarking on a franchise ownership journey.
